The Project Manager will plan and control allocated projects and changes, ensuring that they are delivered to specification, within time and budget, and to the agreed level of quality to support business initiatives. As a secondary responsibility, they will assist with business and systems analysis tasks, gathering requirements from the business and ensuring that they are adequately documented for internal or external developers to work from. The Project Manager will need to develop and maintain close links within the business in order to understand business needs and to identify, develop, and assess project and change proposals. The portfolio of technologies covered includes everything from ecommerce to product lifecycle management, customer relationship management to digital asset management, master data management to document management, so the ability to be comfortable in multiple technology spaces and the adaptability to engage with newer technologies is critical. Responsibilities/Duties: • Deliver major/multiple projects to support key business initiatives • Plan, track, and monitor projects and changes. Handle scope issues, manage issues/problems, risks, and plan alternative courses of action and contingency arrangements so that problems are avoided and their impact is reduced • Manage the internal and external resources allocated to projects and change requests in order to achieve completion to specification, time, budget and quality • Compose and distribute relevant communications for project and change request portfolio • Assist business stakeholders in producing project proposals, mandates, and business cases • Initiate, scope and recommend projects in order to enhance project development standards and so improve the overall quality and productivity of the department. • Elicit business requirements from all levels of business stakeholder • Document requirements such that they can be packaged for developer quotation • Develop and maintain close links with all levels of the business in order to understand business needs and to identify, develop and assess change request and project proposals • Maintain a current knowledge of the business direction, objectives and organization in order that the scope, business objectives and financial viability of project/development requests can be verified and agreed • Maintain an awareness of changes in technology and systems in order to ensure technical knowledge is up to date • Travel to NY office to work with the business/technical teams as needed (less than 10% travel expected) Qualifications: Required: - 3+ years of project management experience - Formal project management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP, etc.) - Experience in communicating effectively with both technical and non- technical audiences - Working knowledge of three or more of the following areas: - ERP systems (preferably SAP) - Business intelligence - Data warehousing - Product lifecycle management - Bibliographic data management - Digital asset management - Content management - Customer relationship management - Ecommerce systems - Website architecture - Master data management Preferable: • Knowledge of the publishing or media industry • Prior experience in performing business/systems analysis Skills: o Structured, organized approach o Ability to work simultaneously on multiple work-streams o Strong problem-solving o Customer-service focus o Excellent written and spoken communication skills o Quick to learn and acquire new skills o Adaptability to a rapidly changing business and technical environment o Good business/systems analysis skills
